BIO

An unorthodox and fiercely independent Kentish musician, Jack Nash writes tense, dark, and beautiful music. Inspired by post-rock and grunge-adjacent artists such as Thom Yorke, Jeff Buckley, and Elliott Smith, he brings a gravitational presence to audiences. He demands attention with a unique sound comprised of ambient and shoe-gaze guitar tones and an incredibly expressive and dynamic vocal style that combine to create intense performances of songs about yearning, anxiety, and the consequences of emotion.

From a young age Jack has struggled with anxiety, bouts of depression, and frequent health complications from his chronic eczema, asthma, and allergies. because of this, In his early years he found it hard to connect with people and suffered from periods of loneliness and a feeling of disconnectedness to the world around him. This was until 14, when his Father bought him a second-hand guitar and he started teaching himself. Learning guitar led him to explore music with the CD collection his Father left behind after his parent’s divorce when he was 5, Introducing him to his early obsessions; Foo Fighters, Radiohead, and Damien Rice. Learning the songs from these albums and finding a new community in his fellow music students led him towards his first performances where he found that he was a natural and expressive singer.

Since those beginning years, writing and performing music has continued to be a therapeutic and integral part of his life as a way to express feelings that previously defied words and to combat loneliness. This tangled life with music led him to move to London to study music performance at The University of Westminster where he began to hone his craft and became an excellent performer amongst the university’s gigging circuit.

During his second year He fell into an abusive relationship which continued for a year and ended in a mental breakdown and a deep depression. Out of this came his self-produced debut single “Eternal Sunshine” (2023) and his self-produced EP of Live recordings and demos “Moth EP” (2023) that explore the perspective of an abuse victim and the difficulties of overcoming trauma.

Now, Jack continues to recover, to write and to perform music to release in 2023 and 2024 in his home town of Hythe, with a sunnier disposition.
